Golf Shirt That Gives You Energy?

DECEMBER 18, 2012

For the moment, let's set aside the question of whether the Energy Athletic golf shirt actually gives you energy. Let's focus on the basics. We own two of these golf shirts (short-sleeve and long-sleeve), and they look good and feel great on. The anti-microbial (no-stink) fabric is 95 percent polyester and 5 percent Spandex, so it's light and wicks moisture away from the body nicely.

Regarding the energy issue, here's what the website says: "The unique advantage of Energy Athletic golf shirts is the exclusive IonX Ionized treatment that embeds negative ions into the structure of the fabric during manufacturing, giving you increased power."

Energy Athletic's video shows that its shirt has negative-ion activity, while a regular shirt has zilch. So what? According to WebMD: "Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments. Think mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that increase levels of the mood chemical serotonin, helping to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy."

So, while you won't feel a surge of energy the minute you put on the Energy Athletic shirt, you'll feel good about the look and the feel of the shirt -- and maybe you'll feel a bit of a boost from negative ions that'll give you positive vibes during your round.

[M]ade with negative ions to provide an extra boost. The unique advantage of Energy Athletic golf shirts is the exclusive IonX Ionized treatment that embeds negative ions into the structure of the fabric during manufacturing giving you increased power. I don't know what it is about these shirts, the feel, the cut, or the IonX Ionized treatment, but they are amazingly comfortable - I even wore it running!

The spin on negative ions

GOLF SHIRTS:

Long sleeves, short sleeves, you might think golf shirts are all the same. Ugh no. Not unless they all have a negatively charged, electromagnetic field.

Energy Athletic Golf Shirts do, and while I cannot begin to explain the how or why of this "negative ion" advantage. I do know that my back doesn't get as stiff when wearing this short. It's 95 percent polyester, 5 percent spandex, moisture wicking, and anti-microbial, which means your golfer might be able to wear it on consecutive days without offending his partners.

Or you.

ENERGY ATHLETIC SHIRTS

This is one case where negative energy on the golf course is a good thing. Negative ion energy, that is, woven right into San Luis Obispo-based Energy Athletic Golf's colorful new line of short- and long-sleeve polos. Their proprietary IonX Ionized Energy Fabric, says the company, "adds power and enhances comfort during every round" with an "intelligent material scientifically proven to contain ionic energy through a negatively charged ionic field." A university's double-blind study on 12 rugby players showed a measurable increase in average power when wearing IonX during repetitive, short duration, high intensity exercise. We don't play rugby and never will, but as golfers, we're impressed with how the shirts make us feel - negative in the right way. Plus, they're lightweight, breathable and moisture-wicking, and pack well - no ironing required.

Energy Athletic Ionized Golf Shirt Review

Let's face it, being comfortable on the course is a big deal. We want comfortable shoes, pants, socks and of course shirts. What if a company designed a shirt that not only was comfortable and pleasant to look at, but also created a shirt that energized you along the way? Crazy you say? Not so fast. With Ionized technology, Energy Athletic has created such a shirt.

The Long Sleeve Energy Athletic Ionized Golf shirt is made of 95% Polyester and 5% spandex to provide a loose fitting, comfortable golf shirt that allows freedom of motion essential to the golf swing.

Every shirt comes with fabric that has been embedded with the exclusive IonX Ionized treatment that makes for an intelligent fabric and provides you the golfer with increased power during every round.

Energy Athletic was nice enough to send us over a shirt to see for ourselves. I took the shirt out on a very hot (90 degree) sunny Southern California day. Yes it was 90 degrees in California in November. Anyhow, I know this isn't a pleasant topic, but a lot of us sweat more than others. I am one of those individuals. The Energy Athletic shirt comes with odor preventing, anti-microbial properties as well as moisture wicking which helps keep you cool. I found that to be very nice especially on a hot day where you are wearing a long sleeve shirt. he funny thing is, my arms were getting what little breeze there was just fine through the fabric. In fact, I liked the feeling because I knew my delicate fair skinned arms were being protected from the sun. If you are fair skinned you know that putting on sunblock before a round can be bad for your grip all day.

The shirt is extremely comfortable and loose, which allowed me freedom in all aspects of the game. I did not feel restricted one bit during the day. The shirt breathed well and I felt comfortable all day, which in the long run is what we are all looking for.

How The IonX Ionized Treatment Works

The unique advantage of Energy Athletic golf shirts is the exclusive IonX Ionized treatment that embeds negative ions into the structure of the fabric during manufacturing giving you increased power.

In fact, a study conducted on 12 rugby players to test "discrete physiological parameters associated with rugby" has shown a measurable increase in average power when wearing IonX during repetitive, short duration, high intensity exercise, very similar to movements used throughout the golf swing.

Energy Athletic claims, wearing an Energy Athletic Ionized golf shirt will add power during every round of golf. I don't know if it gave me more power, but I can tell you that I felt extremely comfortable all day and was not in a pile of my sweat on a very hot day.

Final Thoughts: This is a very nice shirt and weather you feel the "energy" from this shirt or not, you will enjoy the feel, comfort, fit and quality of the shirt.

Energy Athletic Golf Shirts Review

We have all seen energy bands, which claim to offer added stability, balance and power. Often times players wear them throughout their round, and the demonstrations I have been through have shown they work. So it seems that if a bracelet can help, a shirt embedded with Ion treaments should work even better, correct?

Enter Energy Athletic Shirts.

Utilizing an exclusive IonX Ionized treatment embedded into the fabric of the shirt, Energy Athletic shirts provide more power throughout your round. Many golf products help you hit the ball longer and straighter, and now your clothing can too! As with many golfers I am looking for any competitive advantage I can get, so if wearing an Energy Athletic shirt can do that I am all in. Plus, they look good and fit well, which is an added bonus. Energy Athletic Golf Shirts are available in two styles, short and long sleeve. The short sleeve has nine color options and the long sleeve has three options.

Shirt Power: It's Got A Lightning Bolt, Doesn't It?

October 30th, 2012 by Jay Stuller

The Energy Athletic ionized fabric shirt.

While the boys at MythBusters might be able to prove that my drives weren't getting a few extra yards thanks to my new, long-sleeved Energy Athletic golf shirt – - which feature the brand's proprietary IonX Ionized Energy Fabric™ - I did pop a few suspiciously long tee shots last week. Maybe it was the placebo effect of the yellow symbolic lightning bolts on the collar and the cuff, or perhaps a trailing wind. Then again, it could have been the negative charged ions in the fabric.

Most of the players on the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, after all, wear necklaces and other gear that's also ionized, as do plenty of golfers.

By using science validated by Tour stars and other elite athletes and applying that to a revolutionary fabric, we're helping players truly maximize their power on the golf course," says Mike Abram, President of Performance Sports Brands, parent company of Energy Athletic Golf.

The company contends that its apparel's ability to increase power was confirmed by an independent university in a double-blind study of 12 rugby players, who wore shirts with negative ions embedded into the fabric. The results showed a measurable increase in average power during repetitive, short duration, high intensity exercise, similar in some ways to playing golf.

A Bit About Those Ions

We are, in fact, surrounded by both positive and negative charged irons, the respective density of which is influenced by environmental factors. It's well known that an excess of positive ions can cause headaches, trigger allergies and other ill effects. Positive ions can build up indoors where it is dusty and televisions and computers are operating; where heating ducts strip the air of electrons, churning an increase of positive ions; and, anywhere dry and warm wind blows.

Called "the vitamins in the air," negative ions spike after a drenching rain, and near the ocean, rivers and especially at the bottom of waterfalls, which is why visits to these spots feel refreshing. Negative ions have been shown to lift mood, lighten depression and help with seasonal affective disorder. But it's the environment that primarily drives the levels.

For example, on a big city freeway during rush hour the number of negative ions in a cubic centimeter of air is about 100. Fresh country air has from 2,000 to 4,000 negative ions. At the base of Yosemite Falls, there are more than 100,000 per cubic centimeter.

Still A Fine And Comfortable Shirt

My golf buddies and I had a good laugh at the bolts, for it harkens back to that great Volkswagon Jetta commercial, where a young kid asks an older teenager selling a small motorbike, "Is it fast? Says the seller: "It's got a lightning bolt on it, doesn't it?"

But with Energy Athletic, there's no way you're getting taken by an over-promising shirt. Made of 95 percent polyester and 5 percent Spandex, the lightweight, breathable and moisture-wicking shirt has a great feel, soft and comfortable. It's a casual polo that I'd wear most anyplace during the winter. As a bonus, it doesn't have a tail so it can look good whether it's tucked into one's pants or not. However, it you don't like the shirt, send it back within 30 days and you'll get a full refund.

Energy Athletic's short-sleeved shirts retail for $59.90 and the long sleeved polo's go for $69.90. For more information visit www.wearenergy.com.

Energy Athletic Long Sleeve Golf Polo

OCTOBER 20, 2012

A little while ago I wrote a review on Energy Athletic's new ionized golf polos. I very much enjoyed playing golf in the polo due to its comfort and ion-charged technology within its fibers. Now, Energy Athletic also offers a long-sleeve style of the same shirt.

According to the company website, Energy Athletic designed their golf polos to not only invigorate your stamina while on the course, but to be the best golf shirt you have ever worn.

The impeccable fabric in these golf shirts is made from a wrinkle resistant, 95% Polyester and 5% Spandex blend with odor preventing, anti-microbial properties as well as moisture wicking which helps keep you cool.

The unique advantage of Energy Athletic golf shirts is the exclusive IonX Ionized treatment that embeds negative ions into the structure of the fabric during manufacturing giving you increased power.

I'll be honest, folks; I don't know if I completely buy in to the ionic technology benefits that go along with energized bracelets, wristbands or shirts. All I can tell you is this: while wearing the Energy Athletic long-sleeve polo, I was completely comfortable, had less fatigue and played some of the best golf of my season. Take that however you will.

Available in a wide range of colors, Energy Athletic's shirt line can be purchased via their website or at most major golf retailers.

Review: Energy Golf Apparel

From Independent Golf Reviews

Turning Negative into Positive

It would be great if a golfer could take all their negative thoughts, all their lack of energy, all their problems and turn them into something positive. Negative ions are said to help turn those things around into something good for your game. The more negative ions, the more positive the results. (or so they say)

Energy Athletic claims to have the greatest concentration of negative ions of any golf shirt available. They have independent scientific data that proves there are more ions in their shirt.

Their main goal is to offer the golfer more energy at the end of the round. The negative ions put off from the shirt should help you maintain a higher energy level at the end of 18 holes.

Here is a little of what they say about their shirt:

Energy Athletic Ionized Golf shirts, powered by IonX, have been designed and manufactured to be the best golf shirts you have ever worn. The Energy Athletic golf shirt is not only beautiful, it feels incredibly comfortable.

In fact, a study conducted on 12 rugby players to test "discrete physiological parameters associated with rugby" has shown a measurable increase in average power when wearing IonX during repetitive, short duration, high intensity exercise, very similar to movements used throughout the golf swing.

Picture

While that sounds like a lot of techno mumbo-jumbo concerning this shirt, what happens wearing it on the course? I can't really say I noticed any extra energy at the end of my rounds. While there might be science to say there are more negative ions in this shirt than any other shirt out there, I can not personally tell any difference wearing this shirt compared to any other shirt in terms of energy. I tried to track some stats and tried to be more aware of my energy levels and mind set, and about the only noticeable stat that stood out, was really good putting. I was under 30 putts every time I wore this shirt. I regularly float around 30 putts, but was under 30 putts on every round with this shirt. So you can take that for what it is. Maybe the ions made me calm, maybe it was a fluke, but less putts, meant lower scores.

Picture

So whether you buy into the negative ion energy or not, this is a quality shirt even without the ions. The dry-fit fabric is really a nice weight, not super thin, but not thick either. The angled pinstripe threads look really nice too. The simple energy bolt on the collar along with the Energy logo on the sleeve are noticeable but not obnoxious. The overall fit is really good too. It has a slightly tailored fit, without being tight. The shoulder fit where they should and the sizing it spot on. I wear a M and this one fit just right. They offer a good number of basic colors.

So if you buy into the negative ions, then this is the shirt for you, if you don't, this shirt is still a very nice comfortable high quality shirt. The biggest benefit I found was one the green, so maybe this shirt could cure the yips or calm your mind to drop a few more in the hole.

Energy Athletic Golf Launches New Colors for Performance Apparel Line

JULY 31, 2012

Energy Athletic Golf has been providing high-quality clothing and products for golfers since 1998, but just recently the company has expanded its golf shirt product-line to include an exciting new technology: IonX Ionized Energy Fabric™.

The brand's IonX Ionized Energy Fabric™ technology is now offered in a variety of different shirt colors and styles, one of which I was able to review just this past weekend on the golf course. Available at www.wearenergy.com, the shirts rely on technology trusted for decades by international militaries, space programs and Olympic athletes. With a new line of colors available to match your tastes, this same IonX technology showcases an intelligent material scientifically proven to contain ionic energy through a negatively charged ionic field.

The shirt I reviewed was beyond comfortable due to its lightweight feel, loose fabric style and breathability (which ended up being a lifesaver during on a humid Sunday afternoon in Chicago). While I remain a person who needs further convincing on the effectiveness of "ion technology" in other products, I can honestly say that my endurance seemed greater throughout the round and my score definitely benefitted. So how does this material work?

The ability of Energy Athletic Golf apparel's to increase power was confirmed by an independent university in a double-blind study on 12 rugby players. The results showed a measurable increase in average power when wearing IonX during repetitive, short duration, high intensity exercise. Over the course of my golf round, I found that I was just as energetic on the 18th hole as I was during my opening tee-shot four hours earlier.

I highly recommend this product to any golfer at any level, especially those of us who may need an energy boost during our rounds. Lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking and offering an exceptionally soft feel, Energy Athletic Golf shirts retail for $59.90 to $69.90. They are available on the company website and will soon be offered at leading retailers nationwide.

Energy Athletic Golf Shirt Review

JULY 23, 2012

Energy Athletic Golf Shirt Grade: A for the shirt / ? for the energy effect Teacher's Comments: As a shirt it is great, but there's no way to tell whether the energy aspect works.

You have by now seen those "energy" bracelets, which purport to use negatively charged ions to infuse the wearer with power and energy that they otherwise would not possess. The Energy Athletic Shirt takes that idea and extends it to an entire shirt.

Energy Athletic golf shirts are treated with an IonX process that embeds negative ions into the structure of the fabric. This turns the entire shirt into an energy bracelet.

The manufacturer says that a study of twelve rugby players showed a "measurable increase in average power when wearing IonX during repetitive, short duration, high intensity exercise, very similar to movements used throughout the golf swing."

I wore the shirt on two rounds during my recent trip to South Carolina. I figured in that sort of physically draining "Africa Hot" (anyone recognize that movie reference?) humid environment, I would need an energy infusion.

Wearing the Energy Athletic shirt, I managed to shoot two of my better rounds this year in spite of the heat and the challenges of two unfamiliar courses. At Glen Dornoch, I started with five straight pars, and finished with three in my final five. At the Barefoot Landing Norman Course, I finished with four straight pars. For this mid handicapper, that's relatively unfamiliar territory.

>So I played well. But was it the IonX? There is of course no way to tell, because there is no "control." I may very well have shot those scores wearing one of my regular golf shirts. Or it may be the effect of the latest golf gadgets I've been training with. Or the new Cobra Clubs I've been testing. Or ...

All discussion of the energy ions aside, I can say with certainty that as a shirt, the Energy Athletic is wonderful. It's soft, light, and cool. The fabric is designed to be moisture wicking. The shirt certainly did not become a sopping rag, as a cotton shirt would.

Composed of 95% polyester and 55 spandex, the Energy Athletic also is supposed to have odor-preventing, anti-microbial properties. And at around $60, it is really no more expensive than other premium golf shirts.

Energy Athletic actually offers the shirt with a 30 day guarantee. They say that they'll "guarantee it will be your favorite shirt. If not, send it back within thirty days for a full product refund" (minus a restocking fee, as it turns out).

I like the shirt a lot—and if it actually offers some sort of energy boosting powers, so much the better.
